Neha Bhasin opens up about her battle with PMDD
Neha shed light on her health struggles in a long post and revealed being diagnosed with low progesterone levels and the challenges that came along with it in 2022. Sharing the note, she wrote, “This world grows on love. Love and let love. I don’t feel very comfortable writing about my life in this manner, to open up to speculation, especially when I am healing, is not my idea of fun but it can be unfair to be in pain and to be subjected to more pain and expect to always endure in silence. May this world be a better place for you and me. Much love and light.”
In her note, she revealed battling with the condition for the past year. She wrote, “I put on 10 kg for the first time in my life. And I already suffer from body dysmorphia. I was healing from on and off-eating disorder; antidepressants made sure I put on more weight. I would sit in the dark all alone for 10 hours a day during my episodes. I am now getting better. I have a help and I have bad days but I am learning to cope and hope.”
She further added, “I was caught by paps on the road, in cafes, on my way to the gym. When I loathed at the very sight of how I looked. I was only body-shamed, constantly brutally shamed. She goes to the gym; it’s not working, they said. I was simply depressed and in constant body pain. I’d sit in the gym and cry if I’d not move, I’d have less dopamine and serotonin. If I moved more, I’d have cramps and fatigue.”
“In 2024, I got worse. I was isolating and lost my will and joy in music, life and even friends. I changed therapists, I did yoga pranayam, I stopped working but the demon Pmdd was everywhere I went”, Neha concluded.
